Summary/Objective: The EHS Coordinator promotes health and safety awareness and education; supports the Health & Safety Manager with policies/procedures to ensure a safe work environment across all facilities; performs audits; identifies potential hazards; measures safety performance; and ensures compliance with state/federal health and safety laws to eliminate workplace hazards and accidents.

  • Supports Create/Lead company-wide safety culture in which no hazard gets missed or overlooked.
  • Support all health and safety practices/procedures for risk/injury reduction to achieve zero loss time injuries. 
  • Support all health and safety programs such as lockout/tagout, hazardous communication, machine guarding, electrical safety, etc. to ensure compliance is met and the workforce is safe.
  • Audit and measure performance; safety metrics should reflect the reduction of risks/injuries.
  • Investigate accidents/incidents to find causes and add prevention measures.
  • Participate in employee involvement programs such as project teams, committees, and internal training. 
  • Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritiez corrective and preventative actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
  • Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
  • Lead safety training sessions for employees on proper procedures, emergency response, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage. 
  • Maintain safety training/equipment inspections/injury records. 
  • Oversee PPE/Safety Shoes & SDS Programs within the company and keeps in compliance with current regulations.
  • Maintain new hire orientation training and safety critical audits. 
  • Maintain disaster and emergency response plans for all facilities. 
  • Maintain continued safety education to stay current with regulations and/or certifications
  • Maintain SDS program for site to include contacting manufacturers for SDS and entering SDS into KPA Safety Software System
  • Maintain availability of labeling for chemicals in the plant.
  • Manages the hearing conservation program for all facilities. 
  • Follow up on inspection recommendations and verify completion.
  • Stay current with new and pending safety legislation and anticipate regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • Full-time; 45 hours plus per week. Flexible start and stop times, daily hours could be up to 9+ per day.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Chemical, Environmental Engineering / Science or equivalent related field/ work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ safety work experience, Industrial / Manufacturing preferred.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Manufacturing experience.
  • College education in related field
  • ASP, GSP, OHST or related field.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excell, Power Point) and Teams

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Safety Certifications; SMP, CIT, STS is a plus.
  • Understanding of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI/RIA, ISO 10218 and other regulatory standards

This position starts at $67,000/year; based on experience.
